Trucks Go  by Steve Light  (2008)

A horizontally elongated board book with great sounds and lots of cool trucks.  Each spread has the sounds of each truck in fonts of various sizes (print awareness).  The sounds themselves are fun and rhythmic, and also nicely varied:  “The box truck goes chuggada-chuggada clankity clank”…”The tanker truck goes, vrrrimmmmm!” (phonological awareness).  And the unusual shape and bright and appealing illustrations definitely address print motivation…it will also work in toddler and even baby groups.
