Toot Toot Beep Beep by Emma Garcia (2008)

Much like Garcia’s earlier work, Tip Tip Dig Dig, this book has much kid appeal (for both toddlers and preschoolers) with its wonderfully colorful pictures of different vehicles and sparse language. This is a great book for vocabulary building. Each car scurries off in a different way: zooms, speeds, rushes, and my favorite, trundles.

The “trundle” page is where I stop and talk about all the different words this book uses for movement, and how some of them, like trundles and hurtles, are an opportunity for kids to hear words we don’t normally use in conversation.
