Termites on a Stick : a chimp learns to use a tool by Coxon, Michèle (2008)

A beautiful picture book in which a young chimp learns through watching his mother, after making a couple mistakes. We've been comparing (very mathematical) in what ways we are alike and different from the chimps. We play, we swing, we eat snacks, our moms want us to learn how to do things ourselves. How we're different: we don't sleep in trees or eat termites! The narrative skills displayed by the children attest to the beauty of nonfiction.
