Shapes, Shapes, Shapes by Tana Hoban (1986)

We identified shapes found in the photographs of everyday things in this wordless book. We then talked about page 26, which features two stepladders. I asked what shape the open ladders made. I then talked about how they also looked like some letters (A and V depending on how we turned the book) and asked if anyone knew which ones. We then made those letters as well as others by using our bodies.
Parent message: Learning shapes helps your child with letter knowledge. Try looking for shapes while taking a walk and see if your child can associate them with specific letters.
