    The Caldecott Medal winner, Kitten’s First Full Moon, has now been translated into a Spanish edition, which is a wonderful addition to any Spanish storytime collection.  La Primera Luna LLena de Gatita contains all the same captivating moments in Spanish that the English versión does. This book has great simple illustrations matched with a simple storyline that allows this book to be used easily with ages 2 ½ through 5 years. Children are mesmerized watching the kitten’s adventure in search of milk and can be drawn into the story by participating in saying the repeating phrase (narrative skills), “Y el plato de leche seguia alli, esperando” which goes throughout the book.  Also this book is a great source of new words such as persiguio, meneo, machucandose, rodando, for the preschool age kiddos. By pointing out what the kitten is doing in the story and explaining the new words you will be helping with children’s vocabulary skills.  Overall a fun and simple book that many ages of children can enjoy and will pay attention too!!
