Dinosaur vs. Bedtime by Bob Shea (2008)

book jacket

A little red dinosaur with a big roar takes on a series of opponents through his day: a pile of leaves, talking grownups, a bowl of spaghetti, and others, and wins every battle! Until he faces "bedtime" and falls asleep. This is a big hit in storytimes: the page turns that show each new battle build suspense in a fun way, and the illustrations are full of character, action, and humor. Many of the ROARs are in big, bold fonts, which works well for print awareness . This is also a good choice for narrative skills , with a pattern that kids get right away, but surprises that keep them anticipating. It's also a book many kids could retell themselves using pictures after just one reading.
