Ballerina! by Peter Sis (2000)

An old favorite, Ballerina! gets the children up and exploring graceful movement. There are great action words (float, flutter, dip, leap) as well as great nouns (leotard, turban, feather boa), making this a good book for vocabulary and exploring words through movement. At an outreach visit I was once approached by a physical therapist. She had been working with one of the children and had been trying to encourage him to stand on one foot, but he refused to try until that storytime and Peter Sis' twirls, dips and flutters…
